About the Author
John graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in accounting and shortly thereafter passed the CPA exam. His career in accounting, taxes and business spanned many years and many different aspects of accounting and taxes. He started with a national CPA firm and founded a local accounting firm which was then merged into a national firm. He worked for manufacturing companies and for half of his career for a community bank. In all these endeavors, he held various positions in income tax planning and compliance. He was responsible for the preparation of over 5000 income tax returns and learned all the complexities of compliance and planning in those positions.
Recently in retirement, John participated in a national income tax return training course and was astonished to see all the complexities that had been added to the tax law since his active involvement in that field. John told himself this couldn’t be possible and set out to write “Tax Free at Last,” a book he hopes will confirm his own opinion that the income tax law is unfair and unfathomable. The income tax law must be simplified and designed to help those with lower incomes and include a plan to restore the solvency of the Federal government. This book is a result of many years’ experience in the field and many months of analysis of the sorry state of today’s income tax law.
John divides his retirement time between Texas and Wisconsin. He and his wife Linda enjoy the company as much as possible of their five children and 11 grandchildren. He hopes this book will give them a better income tax law and a solvent Federal government.
